Signs of life! Yesterday the Yankees released their spring training roster and revealed which prospects are getting the invite down to Florida next month. In addition to all the players on the 40 man roster, the team has extended invitations to 23 other players in their system, 11 of them players that they yesterday announced they have signed to minor league contracts. Here’s the official press release with all the names.
If you don’t feel like looking at that, here it is in very accessible picture form:
Note that guys like Jorge Mateo and Aaron Judge, who are already on the 40 man roster, are not in this list, but they’ll still be at spring training.
Besides Blake Rutherford, who was just drafted last June, all of the Yankees on MLB’s top 100 prospects list will be making an appearance. That will be exciting to watch. The obvious headliners on the list are guys like Torres, Frazier, and Kaprielian. It will be Kap’s second spring with the club, but for Torres and Frazier it’ll be their first time suiting up with a team before the season.
Players like Justus Sheffield, the team’s top lefty prospect, and Chance Adams, who made some huge strides last season on the mound, will be fun to look out for as well. Hell, most of these guys are going to be fun to look out for. We’ve been hearing every day since August how stacked Yankees farm system is, now we’ll get the chance to see them in action.
